About Core by K

Hi! I’m K.

I’m a newly qualified Pilates & Barre instructor with a PhD in Health Sciences, over 10 years’ experience in health research, and currently working as a senior manager in the NHS.

In short - I really know my stuff. More importantly, I genuinely care about helping people feel better in their bodies and minds.

At Core by K, I take a whole-person approach to health. That means I don’t just focus on how you move, but how you feel, what’s going on in your life, and what will actually work for you long-term.

A bit more about my background

Alongside my Level 3 Diploma in Mat Pilates, I’m trained in:

  • GXT Barre Certification

  • Level 4 Health Behaviour Change

  • Mental Health First Aid

  • First Aid

  • Level 3 Coaching & Mentoring

I also spent four years teaching Medical Ethics and Law, helping future doctors think about people, values, and real-life decision-making beyond their textbooks. All of this shapes how I teach and coach.

I believe if I'm supporting you with your health I owe it to you to keep my knowledge fresh and in-depth, so I'm always learning too. That's why I'm currently completing:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Nutrition (RSPH)

  • Level 3 Award in Reformer Pilates

  • Level 3 Education & Teaching

Why I do this

After spending most of my 20s studying and gaining weight, I entered my 30s feeling sluggish, inactive, and unhealthy. A whole lifestyle overhaul was needed and I know first-hand how overwhelming that can be.

I wasted a lot of time and money finding out what would work for me to lose the weight I needed to, feel happy and comfortable in my body, and optimise my general health - and I want to share my knowledge and experience so that you can achieve your own goals more quickly, and in a more cost effective way.

I am personally very interested in the psychology of change and understand how hard change can be - physically, mentally, and emotionally. Combined with my professional background, this means I can support people in a way that’s realistic, kind, and sustainable.

What I offer

Whether you’re coming to a Pilates/Barre class, looking for weight-loss support, or you’re an instructor wanting better educational tools, you can expect:

  • clear, evidence-based advice and guidance

  • a coaching approach tailored to you as an individual
